Summer Camps 2017
For children, ages 6 - 12
For dancers interested in a more rigorous, pre-professional program please ask about our Summer Intensive.

For teens ages 13 and older, who are interested in interning, we now have a summer intern program!
Camps I, II, III are for kids ages 6-12, and are Mon – Fri from 9:30am – 3:00pm, with drop off/pick up windows from 8:30am – 3:30pm. Each week will
culminate with a short performance on Fri @ 3pm. Previous dance experience is not necessary to participate.

Camp IV is designed for ages 8 – 12, and runs for 10 days.  This is an excellent camp for dancers who have some previous experience in dance.

The Pamela Trokanski Dance Workshop offers two excellent dance / movement camps (Weeks I & II) that will help students become more well-rounded
dancers while training under teachers of different technical styles.  During the morning portion of the Dance Camps, students will focus on various
technical styles including Ballet, Contemporary, African, Jazz, Hip Hop, and Dance Improvisation. Afternoons will be spent exploring additional
movement styles through a variety of activities. We also offer a week of “Moving Words” (Week III which uses movement activities to enrich  language
and writing skills, and inspire young authors. In Week III, students create “Self-Portraits” through the use of multiple art forms including writing, dance,
visual arts, theatre games and storytelling.
Week VI focuses on the world of ballet, exploring the classical dance form and its influence on other styles.

Finally, Camp V, is a new addition.... Adventures in the Arts is a half day program specifically designed for children ages 5 - 8. This is a half day camp
for younger children that will include movement, visual arts, story-telling and theatre games.

Tuition: $160.00 one week. Tuition for Camp V is $100 as it is a half day program.

There is a 10% discount for siblings and for student who enroll for multiple weeks. Please note that discounts will be given at the time of initial
registration. They are not retro-active and are not available for separate registrations.

As space is limited, tuition will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until the programs fill or until the Thursday preceding each program.

Refunds will not be given except in the case of injury with a doctor’s letter or in the case that there is not adequate registration for the camp to run.

Discounts will be given at the time of initial registration. Please note that discounts are not retro-active and are not available for separate registrations.

Participants should wear clothing or dancewear in which they can move easily for a wide variety of styles (No skirts or jeans please!). Leggings, t-shirts,
leotards, tights, shorts, are all appropriate attire. If children have dance shoes they should bring them, otherwise bare feet should work fine.

Students should bring nutritious lunch, snack, and water/beverage each day. There is a chilled water fountain on site.
Due to the prevalence of peanut allergies, we ask that you don’t pack peanut products. If your child has a food allergy, please let us know so that
we can better monitor them during lunch time.

Please refer to the descriptions of each program to determine age limitations. No previous dance training is necessary, with the exception of Camp IV.

Dancers will need to bring a nutritious lunch, snack, and water/beverage each day. Lunch will not be provided. Water fountains are on site. Due to the
prevalence of peanut allergies, we ask that you don’t pack peanut products.

Students can arrive between 8:30 and 9:15am and must be picked up between 3:00 – 3:30pm. Should a late morning arrival time be required, a phone
call to let us know will help our daily planning process. We know that it’s summer, and have built flexibility into our schedule, but knowing any changes
on your end helps us to keep this a fun experience for your child. (We’ll try and keep the most exciting things for when everyone is present!)

The Summer Training Program
for students 13 and older

This year, we are continuing a summer training program for students age 13 and older who would like to learn how to work with younger
children in dance, movement games, academic enrichment and, importantly, get some work experience. Teaching Assistants would:
  • Report to Pamela Trokanski and assigned Teachers
  • Train with the goal of providing movement and arts education to children in a safe and fun environment
  • Be responsible for assisting with children ages 6 - 12, help with set up  and clean up of activities, and supervision during breaks and activities.
  • Commit to a minimum of 1 week, 8:30 - 3:30pm. Students interested in training during Camp III should commit to the entire 9 days.

Trainees would work one on one with Pamela Trokanski (Director of both the Dance Workshop and the Dance Theatre, and teacher at DHS, holding a
current California Teaching Credential), develop marketable skills for future career opportunities, and receive documentation of training including hours
of training completed.

Cost of training: $80.00 per week for Camps I, II, III.
Cost for Camp IV is $160.
(10 days of training)
Payment is due upon acceptance.
Because we are limiting the number of trainees to two per week, we suggest early application. Interested students should fill out the application form
and include a letter of recommendation from a teacher, or other mentoring adult such as a coach, girl scout leader, or volunteer coordinator. Previous
training in dance or theater is helpful but not necessary. Students new to Pamela will need to interview before selection.
